Atlantic Crossing
21st November – 12th December 2004
As part of the ARC’s requirement to report our position on a daily basis, we were also given the
opportunity to send in daily logs which would be posted to their website.  Surprisingly, we were
disciplined enough to write a journal for every day we were at sea; unfortunately, due to the
vagueries of modern technology, not all of them got through.  Even more remarkably, we won
an award for these daily journals at the ARC prizegiving!   So, in order to give you the full day-by-
day experience of our crossing, we have decided to post all our daily logs in this section.

As you will see, ocean crossings involve a lot of sailing punctuated by a few highlights around
which you day seems to revolve: meals, fishing, dolphin/whale sightings, squalls, equipment
failures etc.

So, how did we do?  Well we could ask you to skip to the
summary of the whole passage, or we
could just tell you.  Finishing in 20 days, 9 hours, 20 mins, and 35 seconds, we came 29th out of
150 yachts in the cruising class; not bad for first timers.  Details about the ARC and our crossing
can be found at
http://arc.worldcruising.com. Also, in order not to clutter up your reading
experience, we’ve included all photos from the crossing on this page.  Please note, that our
camera stayed firmly indoors during any squalls, so these photos make it seem like it was
sunny all the time.... not always, but it was for the most part!
